The must have accessories to wear this season are earrings and tassel earrings are having a big moment. They are perfect to dress up any outfit and can make a simple outfit into a glamorous one. The popularity of the statement earring this year is huge and we have seen them on fashionistas across our Instagram feed and it looks like it's not slowing down anytime soon. Styles like tassel earrings are the new standard for fashion girls and style icons Olivia Palermo, Rihanna and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have been spotted wearing these crafty and decadent earrings. The poetic vibe of tassel earring lies somewhere between retro jewelry, recalling 30s pendants, and contemporary pieces that experiment with unusual materials. Coming in a myriad of hues, shapes, floral motifs and beads that make these earring truly trendy. Wear them with a denim jacket or, as seen at Sachin & Babi or Versace (the latter for FW 2018), with a little coloured dress, bare shoulders and tassels in line with the straps. We'll be pulling our hair back to show off our Amalfi Tassel Earrings which come in 3 different colourways. We'll be wearing these all winter, perhaps to put a little spring in our step on dreary days. Which colour will you be wearing? The Neutral Pair - for the girl who likes to leave the accessorising for the weekend which includes brunch dates and trips to the markets. The Coral Pink Pair - for the girl not afraid of taking risks in the fashion scene. Colour brightens up her style and reflects in her bubbly personality. The Bold Red - for the girl who is a trendsetter, her style icon is Iris Apfel and reads VOGUE on the train to work. These are things I love, things I've worn. I get more compliments on accessories than anything else. I think they're kind of like herbs and spices. They give zest and zing to an outfit. ~ Iris Apfel

Everyone needs a little bit of leopard print in their life whether in a form of shoes, accessories, top or a jacket a little hint of leopard print can go a long way in your wardrobe. Showcased in A/W 17/18 Tom Ford, Victoria Beckham and Max Mara featured Leopard print in some of their designs, all of the first row rejoiced when they saw this pattern hit the catwalk!
We also rejoiced too when our latest new arrival The Monroe Leopard Print Jacket flew into our office. This coat is a statement and can be dressed up or down, leopard print is a neutral which you can wear with anything. Channeling my inner sixties side of style looking chic as Anne Bancroft in 1967 film The Graduate I layered this coat with a simple black high neck knit, culottes and red boots. Make this coat yours! You won't regret it! Will the world, ahem, hear you roar? I love silk scarves. Not only do I love to collect these beauties, but I also love styling them in different ways and love to wear them. Whether I tie it on my handbag, in my hair or around my neck, I think silk scarves make the perfect addition to just about any look. For these reasons I thought it would be fun to share some of the top ways I style my silk scarves. 1. Tie it around your bag. 2. Wear it as a headband 3. Simple tie and push to the side. Yup, we’re still all about slogans and brands on our tees. BRUNCH DATES The key to this look is to keep it simple. Wear your tee with jeans or a denim skirt and understated jewellery. Wear with sneakers for some extra casual coolness. COCKTAILS WITH THE GIRLS Tell them what you are thinking while being a lady. Match your tee with a midi pleated skirt, don't be afraid to wear a skirt with colour. Put on some heels, wear your best jewels. DRESS IT UP Match the two most hottest trends this season together, slogan tee and gingham. Wear a gingham skirt with your favourite tee for some chic Parisian vibes. Style your outfit with Mules and simple jewellery. WEAR IT FROM 9 TILL 5 Wear your tee underneath a black blazer and black tailored pants for that 'I'm cooler then you' look. Get the look...
It’s nearly winter and this means 2 things: coats & layers. No cold season will ever be complete without the Coat Trend talk. Ever!
Chances are that you own a black coat. Chances are you get sick of wearing that same black coat every single cold winter’s day, and chances are your black coat might be a little sick of you.
There is something so optimistic about gingham! Gingham is one of those prints that never really goes out of fashion. Made popular in the 50's and 60's by style icons like Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot, the checked cotton fabric has hit a 'style high' in 2017 and it looks like it will be continuing into A/W 2017.
Here at La Moda Stylist we are obsessed with this vintage print that we had to get it in a dress form. Introducing the must have mini, the Sicilian Affair Dress. Pretty, preppy and playful, this vintage inspired dress is a major fashion must have. The nice thing about gingham is that it's so easy to wear. There is nothing better than a print that has been around for a long time except of course, when it gets a simple yet fresh update. This oh la la dress has us falling in love with this classic print all over again. Gingham has taken over the fashion world and we want you to jump on board. Always With Style, xoxo A, As AH (Audrey Hepburn) once wisely said, ‘there is a shade of red for every woman.’ And while wearing the Gypsy Love Dress I have discovered how true this sentiment was.
This was the first time I’ve ever worn a red dress and I don’t know why I have never embraced this fiery hot colour before…maybe it’s because I have become too much of a minimalist (aka black is the ONLY option) or is it because I assumed red doesn’t suit me? Well, I was wrong. I am now fully converted to red and especially to the RED DRESS. This vivid and racy ‘V’ plunging dress is amazingly shocking and is to be worn with no apologies.
Take 2...
Just another blog post about my current obsession with the slip dress. Why another post about the slip I hear? Because I feel like the possibilities on styling the slip dress are endless and can be worn any season, simply by adding or removing layers.
Crop tops first made a return late last year, but it’s not a trend (except for gals attending to Coachella) that everyone is so willing to embrace (particularly if you’ve been a bit lazy in the gym or if you have been eating one too many cheesecakes!) To be honest when I hear the words ‘crop top,’ I immediately think of Mel C, aka Sporty Spice from the Spice Girls in the 96 video clip “Tell me what you want, what you really want.... (or that time, when Sporty and Posh Spice kind of matched their crop tops on more then one occassion.) #ohlord #cringing
Fast forward to 2017, the trend of the crop top has come a long way since the days of the Spice Girls and think of the crop as a sophisticated and bold fashion statement, it’s easy to see why it’s become so popular among celebrities and fashion fanatics alike. Fast forward to 2017, the trend of the crop top has come a long way since the days of the Spice Girls. #thankgod The off the shoulder top is no longer a trend, it’s a wardrobe essential. With a hint of bohemian about it, the current must have is one of the hottest looks to have and there’s no reason why everyone should not embrace this flirty piece. Spotted via Instagram on some of our favourite It-girls, off-the-shoulder silhouettes make for the perfect beach-to-bar outfits.
But what happens when you combine an off the shoulder top with stripes? Well…something amazing happens. Let me introduce to you our Swing The Mood Top! The name says it all! My love affair with off the shoulder tops started a few years ago (before the trend boomed across the fashion scene.) I adore how an off the shoulder top can make you feel, even with a longer sleeve it can still make you feel that you’re in the heat of a tropical summer sipping a mojito on the beach. What’s not to love about stripes, frills and a little skin? Absolutely nothing! Showing off your neckline and shoulders in a top is sexy and flirty enough whilst leaving enough to the imagination. My number one tip with this wardrobe essential is not too go tight with the top; a looser bohemian look is the way to go. Whether you’re headed to Coachella, or simply weekend brunch, channel your inner Olivia Palermo, Bianca Jagger or even Rosie Huntington-Whiteley this summer in our Swing The Mood Top. Always With Style, xoxo A. La Moda Stylist C'est magnifique is how we would describe this sultry blue, off the shoulder top. The off the shoulder silhouette is seemingly everywhere and it’s taking many different forms. With summer well and truly here, it’s time to turn our attention to easy breezy summer styling while still looking like a style icon in our everyday lives.
That’s why we here at La Moda Stylist we are loving the Georgina Top. We adore everything from the arctic blue hue to the little ruffle at the sleeve and of course the off the shoulder silhouette. What’s not to love about this top? It’s easy to dress up and classic enough to wear to brunch. We’ve teamed the Georgina Top with Culottes and tucked it in for an effortless feel and accessorised with our choker coin necklace and our Quay Australia My Girl Sunglasses. This holiday basic has us dreaming about tinsel and holiday parties. You're playing the word association game… you hear 'slip dress', you say 'Kate Moss', right? Well, while this slinky classic should definitely be on your SS16 agenda for evening, the 90s classic has major mileage for daytime too.
The fashion world (and us) have gone loco aka crazy for the simple little slip dress + white tee combo. It's like totally #90S! Raise your hand if you grew up with the movie Clueless and with the fashion wisdom that Cher and her girl gang gave us. Oh them 90's...so memorable! In the words of Aretha Franklin;
R-E-S-P-E-C-T find out what it means to me R-E-S-P-E-C-T, take care, T-C-B. You know what they say, a little restraint and discipline never hurts anybody and when suiting up one has to be femme fatale. Is this the reason behind the popular tuxedo dress trend? Does the fashion world want us to be poised, fierce, powerful and f***ing amazing? Intimidating... "The sun goes down, the stars come out and all that counts is here and now. My universe will never be the same. I'm glad you came." ![]() As the sun sets more earlier and my perfect idea of "going out" involves being snug on the sofa, watching a romantic comedy while sipping on a cup of tea is heaven, but never the less when I do go out I want to feel and look glamorous and warm! One thing missing in my winter wardrobe was a white knit. A winter wardrobe wouldn't be complete without at least one oversized chunky knit to bundle up in. Especially since it takes only the coziest sweater to stave off the wintry winds. White knits has been the ultimate winter staple for seasons on end and is particularly a must-have because it doubles as the absolute transitional piece when the cold frost finally melts. The denim dress is making a well-earned fashion comeback, with a nod to the 70’s inspired trend we all love. There is something about denim which really appeals to me and wearing something I feel confident in and I know which is 100% me is very important. Fashion is not just about clothes, fashion is your Armour. Clothes is something you put on but fashion is a language which clothes speak. I get so excited about fashion that sometimes it’s a bit ridiculous. I’ve lost count on how many times my eyes have watered up by seeing a Givenchy or Dior Couture in an exhibition. I always get that OMG moment.
I’ve always been Parisian at heart in the way I dress. Classic, minimal and sophisticated. I became accustomed to vests and I can now say I am a LOVER of vests. Black, beige, khaki, camel. I love them all. But a white vest is a definite must have for all women and something I was missing in my wardrobe. A white vest is a timeless piece to have, it’s versatile and a staple. Vests just can’t go out of fashion especially when it’s in a colour which won’t go out of fashion. So when we received our Social Networking Vest I knew I needed it in my life. It was love at first sight. ![]() I love to dress up and I’ve started to care less about what other people think of what I’m wearing or how “fancy” I look when I pop into the supermarket to buy milk. I can only think of 2 occasions where I have worn sweat pants; to a place I wouldn’t normally go to and where nobody knew who I was. Sure, I felt comfortable in my sweat pants and runners but did it feel like me? That answer would be no. On some days I am all about flats, a nude lip and other days I am in heels, lipstick and a figure hugging dress. But it doesn’t matter how I feel because I always strive to look and feel my best. Not for boys; just for me. Like people we also outgrow clothing. I’m not talking about the ‘size’ of the garment per se. I'm referring to the nitty-gritty, the finer details which make fashion not clothing - the fit, colour, style and fabric. Now what I’m going to say next will make me sound like an old sweater in the back of your closet which grandma Gertrude bought you ten million years ago and your reaction was “Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the Camel…what an ugly sweater!”
As you get older, you realise that quality over quantity and a Cosmo over cheap vodka is better for you and much more enjoyable. Sure, cheap vodka ticks all the boxes:
Two crucial components this Wednesday were cappuccinos and stripes. Stripes have become a staple in my wardrobe and when I wear stripes in a different way it becomes more desirable.
I prefer to wear my stripes the same way I like to drink my coffee, chic and relaxed. This style combination is a classic and debonair look. Ok here I go; my 4th attempt to putting pen to paper. I believe in superstitions and I blame my Nonna A for this. Brain washing me since I was a little girl - “don’t sit at a corner of a table otherwise you won’t get married; don’t go under someone’s arm as its bad luck.” The list goes on… But on New Year’s Eve when I snapped open my fortune cookie and read the message I was like...pfft.
My fortune was foretold... If there's one thing summer is doing to me, its's literally making me quite nostalgic over God knows what, and really pushing me towards my sensitive and deeper side, which aside from having me day-dream and having my head in the clouds while bumping into the tress on my way to somewhere! It's fabulous (I'm being sarcastic) Some might say it's the "heat" or the "holiday" season causing this....
They Called Her Bonita Endless white sand stretched before her. Running. Gripping the lily's she found near the rock. The salty breeze carrying her softly and quickly. Her heart beating like a drum. Not knowing if he was waiting for her on the dunes of the cape. A slave to the golden sun. Bonita they called her! Skin shimmering as her feet pounded to the ground. The finger prints left on Bonita's skin was the map to lui.
Wild blue eyes sparkling in the distance. But it was Bonita's eyes that captured his soul. Her eyes were the colour of milk chocolate edged with a deep forest green. Sometimes the two colours seemed to swirl together like moss creeping over rich soil and when she smiled, both colours ignited with glow dazzling him with the warmth of the deep brown and seductive green dancing around the it's edge. As their eyes met again, he spoke. "It was you I was waiting for." Sandia & La Moda Stylist Motionless, stuck in time, reading.
Stories before her told of the earthly presence of the shells beneath the sand. Spending days on the golden strip. Happy. Drifting away with the breeze. She couldn't be more picture perfect, but nothing could predict what happened next, when the tide came in. Eyes as blue as it was meant to be. Lui. The Story Of La Moda Stylist & Blue
Endless miles of white sand stretch before her. Deserted. Blue water laps hungrily at her ankles. Eyes like diamonds, soul piercing with her charm, her captivating nonchalance. A smile teases on her lips as she dances away, leaving foreigners forever reaching, fingers grasping the salty air, heavy with her sultry masquerade. The sea breeze carries the whisper of a thousand loves before, her pull is unabating. Her eyes a maelstrom of ice blue, secrets and longing; a sea temptress tangled in ethereal sophistication. Bathed in cool, glossy waters of blue, she captivates and indulges the attention of her lovers. Forever a goddess by the sea. Forever a jewel of the blue ocean. Derby Day Style Guide The first day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival sees the crowd come out in their black and white best. Derby Day, known as the day for racing purists, traditionally sees a monochromatic dress code, encouraging race goers to keep it simple and chic in either black or white or a combination of both. If the simple colour palette leaves you wanting more from your look, try experimenting with textures and fabrics to bring something special to your outfit.
