Like people we also outgrow clothing. I’m not talking about the ‘size’ of the garment per se. I'm referring to the nitty-gritty, the finer details which make fashion not clothing - the fit, colour, style and fabric. Now what I’m going to say next will make me sound like an old sweater in the back of your closet which grandma Gertrude bought you ten million years ago and your reaction was “Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the Camel…what an ugly sweater!”
As you get older, you realise that quality over quantity and a Cosmo over cheap vodka is better for you and much more enjoyable. Sure, cheap vodka ticks all the boxes:
Throughout my life I have searched for “that” dress. You know "that" LBD (little black dress) which you can rely on when life gets tough. "That" dress you can bring out when you're invited to a swaree at the very last minute and "that" dress you know that will fit you like a glove, even when you’ve had a few too many chocolates the night before. “That” dress will become your best friend.
Like a best friend, your LBD will always be there for you. No matter how down you may feel, in the back of your mind you know your LBD is waiting for you and always ready for you when you need it. Especially when your cashmere sweater goes into the wash and comes out like Rayon - recycled and full of nasty chemicals. It's at that point you realise it won’t survive regular washing and when you hang it out to dry, you will look closely at the tag and realise it never really was cashmere. It lied.
That’s one thing about your LBD. It will never lie to you. It will become your "wardrobe rock" and will help you forget about that very expensive sweater you thought was cashmere.
My advice to you is to always treat your LBD like a best friend and your best friend like a LBD because without them you will be completely lost.
I am very lucky to have found both.
To be honest, I never really liked cheap vodka anyway.
