I’ve always been Parisian at heart in the way I dress. Classic, minimal and sophisticated. I became accustomed to vests and I can now say I am a LOVER of vests. Black, beige, khaki, camel. I love them all. But a white vest is a definite must have for all women and something I was missing in my wardrobe. A white vest is a timeless piece to have, it’s versatile and a staple. Vests just can’t go out of fashion especially when it’s in a colour which won’t go out of fashion. So when we received our Social Networking Vest I knew I needed it in my life. It was love at first sight.

Layering is one of fashion’s biggest blessings and can make an outfit look more exciting and creative, whilst staying warm at the same time. BONUS! So today I wanted to show you how I style my Social Networking Vest. One of the most important things while I’m at work or out is that I like to be comfortable and creative in my styling and the way I feel.

I like to play with proportion which plays with the eye and makes it have that ‘ying and yang’ effect. I paired my vest with our Wisdom top (another buy, but will go into detail next week on how AMAZING this top is) and high waisted culottes. As you can see, playing with proportion never looked so good. This outfit is gravitating towards a simple and clean silhouette. Keeping my look monochrome it makes a maximum impact without being too loud. For many reasons, this outfit has been my go to because it’s easy to throw on and just effortless. Just like a Parisian way of dressing.

But the fundamental key to achieve your very best personal style is to dress for your own body shape. Now let’s refer to back to a Parisian women.

What would you find in a typical Parisian closet?

Colour? Lack of colour?

Fling open the doors of a typical Parisian closet and you will find black, navy, white and beige. It’s important to have your staples down and why I encourage you to inject a bit of Parisian in your wardrobe, you will thank me later.

Also on another note, you are probably wondering why I’m holding the book ‘How to be Parisian, wherever you are.’ Not only is it an amazing read which had me laugh out loud, but there is also a funny little story when I purchased the book while wearing this exact outfit.

I purchased the book ‘How to be Parisian, wherever you are’ a few days ago. I noticed it at the corner of my eye on a neatly piled book display…shimmering (probably just good lighting and display on the stores behalf.) Walked over, grabbed it in my hands and strutted over to the counter.

As the sales assistant was putting the sale through, she looked at what I was purchasing and commented “she looks like you.” Completely baffled by this comment and not noticing the illustration on the cover, the sales assistant continues to examine the picture closely while waiting for the receipt to print and said “is it you?” And what I said next completely surprised her and even me!

I replied “We all have a little Parisian in us.” With both smiled at each other and I swiftly walked away with the book in my hands and as I walked out the store, I smiled and just like that I knew I inspired someone to dress a little chicer, to hold her head a little higher and have that extra soigne’ . (Adj. possessing an aura of sophistication in dress, manner or design; presented or prepared with an elegance attained through care for finer details.)

Also trust me on this one, do yourself a favour and invest in this white vest. You won’t be disappointed.

I will stop wearing BLACK when they make a DARKER colour.
