“…and I hope never to return” are the words written on the last page on the iconic artist’s diary, Frida Kahlo.
Frida Kahlo is a woman who cannot be defined or restricted by words, or may their not be any words invented yet to describe Kahlo’s beauty and strength. Kahlo contracted polio at the age of 6, encountered an almost deadly accident at the age of 18 and went on to marry Diego Rivera, a muralist and ultimate womanizer. Although she suffered from physical illnesses which affected her well-being and lifestyle, she became one of the world’s most recognisable names in the world of art. For me, she represents the pain that every woman on earth may be going through, whether it is physical, emotional or infidelity, which are expressed in her self-portraits so bluntly and poignantly. After clearly sensing the intensity of her agony in her paintings and diary, I can at the same time sense the greatness of her hope. Below are some of Kahlo’s quotes, which I hope inspire you as much as they inspire me . Viva La Frida! Always With Style, Xoxo A.

I love being a woman. Everyday I am grateful for the opportunities I’m given and for the freedom I have thanks to those who have fought for our rights and equal opportunity.
There are times when we as women, are often put in a corner and expected to act, look and talk a certain way. Unfortunately today we are still fighting for equality and instead of being supportive of one another, we often get compared to others and feel the need to compete against one another. We judge one another, instead of celebrating our accomplishments. I have been lucky enough to grow up with strong, inspirational and amazing women, including my grandmothers, mother and sister. Even as a little girl I knew other girls weren't my "competition" and I am proud to stand amongst them today as a woman. I also love to be around other strong women who are not afraid to speak up for what they believe in. Sometimes we compare ourselves against one another, make judgments and bully one other for the expectation of men. In order to grow, we must unite and and take a stance for equality and respect in the workplace, home and life in general. Just remember, women can do anything. Here are some of my favourite empowering quotes for all of you! I hope these quotes inspire you to be the strong woman you are destined to be and the best version of yourself as well as not be afraid to go after what you want! Don't follow your dreams..................... chase them!! Always With Style, xoxo A. La Moda Stylist |
